Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ToolsViewer (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit ToolsViewer and use our browser-based tools (collectively, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

1. Who we are

Tools Viewer is a collection of free, client-side web tools for everyone. The Service is hosted on Vercel (with Cloudflare for DNS and security at the edge) and is designed so that your work (documents, images, code, and other content you edit) stays on your device unless you explicitly export or share it.

2. Our privacy-first design

Each tool runs primarily in your browser. In general:

  • Your content is not uploaded to our servers for editing, formatting, preview, validation, or storage.
  • We do not operate an application backend that receives your source files or tool output.
  • Preview and processing happen locally via JavaScript in your browser.
  • Optional preferences (theme, layout, last session) may be stored in your browser’s localStorage only.

You can delete locally stored data at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings.

3. Information we may collect automatically

Like most websites, our hosting and analytics providers may automatically receive technical information when you visit the Service, such as:

  • IP address (may be personal data in some jurisdictions)
  • Browser type, version, and language
  • Operating system and device type
  • Referring and exit pages
  • Date, time, and pages viewed
  • Approximate geography derived from IP

We use this information to operate, secure, and improve the Service, understand aggregate usage, and diagnose technical issues.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We and our partners may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for:

  • Remembering theme and UI preferences in your browser (local storage)
  • Aggregated analytics via Google Analytics
  • Advertising and measurement via Google AdSense
  • Security and fraud prevention

Core tools keep working without an account. Theme and draft preferences stay on your device in local storage unless you clear them. Rejecting or blocking third-party cookies in your browser may limit analytics or ads, but does not block core editing.

5. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic and feature usage. Analytics data is generally collected in de-identified or aggregated form and is not linked to content you edit in our tools. Google’s processing is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Advertising

Some pages may display third-party advertising (such as Google AdSense) to support free access. Advertising partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure ads. We do not share your locally edited tool content with advertisers.

7. Third-party services

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:

  • Legitimate interests — analytics, advertising to fund free tools, security, fraud prevention, and service improvement
  • Contract / service delivery — providing the tools you request in your browser

9. Data retention

  • Local tool data — remains on your device until you clear it
  • Server logs — retained per Cloudflare’s policies (typically short-term)
  • Analytics / ads data — retained per each provider’s policies

10. International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or provider certifications.

11. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to data portability. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise rights, contact us using the details below.

12. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

13. Security

We use HTTPS, reputable hosting, and industry-standard practices. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; use the Service at your own risk for highly sensitive data.

14. Open-source components

Some Tools Viewer apps include third-party open-source libraries. Attribution and license links are listed on our Open Source Licenses page.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes may be highlighted on the site. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
